Douglas Heifetz
Lost & Forged
Silver Springs, MD
I believe in the possibility of transformation, both for individuals and for a world in need of healing.
Doug Heifetz designs and handcrafts lustrous metal creations of all kinds, using reclaimed vintage materials. He began to experiment with handicrafts in summer, 2015, while searching for a craft to share with his family, friends and congregation (he served for eleven years as the full-time Rabbi of a Reconstructionist Jewish synagouge in the Washington-Baltimore area, until August 2017).
He narrowed his focus to silverware jewelry and metalwork two months later, in August 2015. Since then, Heifetz’s pieces have sold and appeared widely. He has sold approximately 600 individual pieces to customers in all 50 US states, and nine countries overseas. Artscape Baltimore selected him as the Artscape 2016 Emerging Artist for Jewelry. He participated in the GBK Celebrity Gifting Suite in honor of the Golden Globe Awards in Hollywood, California in January 2017, in conjunction with The Artisan Group. One hundred celebrity gift bags distributed at the event included a ring from Lost & Forged. Baltimore Style Magazine and Organic Spa Magazine websites both featured his work in 2017. The TV show The Fosters depicted a ring by Lost & Forged, worn by actress Sherri Saum, in Season 4, Episode 17.
Heifetz takes inspiration from many other artists within his family and beyond, and hopes to honor them through his work, while serving a diverse base of customers and fans. He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA.
