Dorla Dean Slider AWS. NWS
Boyertown, PA
She prefers a variety of paper, boards or canvas to keep her subjects exciting and maybe a bit out of the range of the ordinary - never too real, never too abstract.
Earliest beginnings started at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, PA under the tutelage of Dr. Walter E. Baum. As an artist, she’s worked in many mediums but as a self-taught watercolorist, it became her first love. Since her earliest years were spent as an oil painter she easily slid into the world of acrylics which she renders both as watercolors on paper or on canvas. She prefers a variety of paper, boards or canvas to keep her subjects exciting and maybe a bit out of the range of the ordinary – never too real, never too abstract. Though she prefers landscapes, she also does many people-scapes….each subject determines its own medium or surface. Her watercolor and acrylics have collected gold medals, numerous awards and accolades in regional, national, and international shows.
She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS) since 1972, National Watercolor Society (NWS), along with many other affiliations.
