All pieces are one of a kind. I do not follow a pattern. I also use recycled glass; anything from broken bowls, lampshades or as described above, broken glass washed ashore.
I have studied stained glass for over fifteen years and have many stories to share.
For example, one summer, where we vacationed at my sister’s lake house in NC, my daughters and I came across several broken bottles and glass pieces on a desolate shoreline while we were kayaking. This dangerous stretch of beach presented an opportunity throughout the week to collect glass everywhere we could find it. My desire is to turn this glass collection into a large panel depicting the beautiful lake and mountains there that will become a gift for my sister. So, to sum this story up, we had a fun time searching and gathering pieces as a family. We made a lakefront a safer place. We will have a great gift for my sister. And this piece will be made from local and recycled materials. All of that makes me happy!

On a personal level, I am blessed with a great husband since our college days. We have four children ages 19 through 9. They have all helped out in some way with Star Works and have had some fun learning it themselves.
