Brad Hagmayer

Brad Hagmayer Pottery

Royersford, PA

No two pieces are alike based on the clay body, glaze work, texture and the unpredictability of the firing process.

Brad Hagmayer grew up in Limerick Township of Southeastern Pennsylvania and along the South Jersey Coast where he spent his summers.  As a child, Brad experienced numerous pets and other animals while growing up. In addition to dogs and cats, his array of other pets included hermit crabs, lizards, rabbits, birds as well as chickens, a goat, ducks and even a raccoon.

At a young age, Brad*s interest in animals was expressed through his art. His painting, sculpting and photography were primarily focused on animal subject matter. He earned a degree in Art Studio from Bloomsburg University in l988. All through high school and college he continued to work with animals and veterinary medicine in a large veterinary hospital, working his way up to practice manager. Brad is currently the practice manager for a hospital in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.

In 2001, Brad’s mother bought a French Bulldog and named her “Rosie.” Rosie went on to be a champion and winner of an Award of Merit at the Texas Frenchie Specialty in 2004. This brought about the beginning of Le Jardin’s Frenchies * his mother*s breeder name. Rosie was bred and Brad helped with the C-section and birth of the litter. From this litter Tansey came into Brad*s life. Brad can rarely be seen without her. Tansey has gone onto being a champion as well as earning titles in CGC, TDI, RN and RA titles. She is a frequent visitor of nursing homes, schools and children activities where she performs her silly tricks for everyone’s amusement.

Brad is now working in ceramic sculpture and has focused on the French Bulldog in his work, creating pieces primarily in the sitting position. He describes this position as “comfortably attentive.” No two pieces are alike based on the clay body, glaze work, texture and the unpredictability of the firing process.   He is also creating a beautiful line of high and low fired “‘shrooms” to add a touch of whimsey and beauty to your home or garden.
